Furness Diving Club were approached during the late summer to assist with the production of two TV shows due to be aired next spring.
The first for the BBC is a series looking at recovering lost items of ‘treasure’ which people have mislaid within the lake district. The series looks at what has been lost why it has value to the person who lost it and covers attempts to recover the item. There is a team of metal detectorists looking for items lost on land and a team of free and scuba divers looking for items lost underwater. Multiple dives have taken place in different locations but you will have to watch the show to learn how we got on !
The second is a Channel 5 programme about the first ever sea planes built and tested on Windermere prior to and during World-War One, over 100 years ago. Exploratory dives have taken place to try and find artifacts and relics from the period. Lots of items have been found and further opportunities and targets exist for further exploration
The press found out about some of our activities and got in touch for a telephone interview
